Dr. Gursharan Virdee, D.Psy, C.Psych

Dr. Gursharan Virdee received her doctoral degree in 2016 from City University in London, UK. She has worked in a variety of settings ranging from tertiary inpatient services through to community mental health teams and not for profit organizations in both the United Kingdom and Canada.


She adopts a strengths based, solution focused approach and seeks to empower clients to thrive in their everyday life. Her clinical interests include psychosis, depression, anxiety, addictions, self-harm and trauma. Dr. Virdee is trained a number of evidence based interventions including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness Based Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Adaptation Training and solution focused therapies such as Motivational Interviewing. Dr. Virdee works with adults and adolescents. She has a special interest in culturally appropriate psychological assessments and interventions, and is able to provide treatment in Punjabi.
Dr. Virdee also works at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto where she is involved in developing, implementing and evaluating psychological interventions to support recovery from psychosis. As an extension of her interests in culturally appropriate mental health interventions, Gursharan leads a program of research to enhance the mental health outcomes of young South Asian women. Dr. Virdee co-leads The Collaborative for South Asian Mental Health, a group of researchers working to enhance mental health equity for South Asians in Canada.
