Dr. Elise Wouterloot, RP, PhD, C.Psych (Supervised Practice)

Dr. Elise Wouterloot (she/her) is a psychologist in supervised practice. She helps clients discover a more comfortable way of being in the world. She is particularly interested in how clients foster resilience after distressing experiences. She works from an experiential, trauma-informed framework and incorporates therapeutic techniques and tools that will best match her clients’ needs and goals. She has training in Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). She welcomes adolescent and adult clients from all backgrounds and identities who are seeking support to navigate their anxiety, depression, transition, grief, or cope with a traumatic experience.

Dr. Wouterloot completed her PhD in the Clinical and Counselling Psychology Program at University of Toronto (OISE). Her pre-doctoral clinical psychology residency was at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) in the Complex Care & Recovery and the Work, Stress and Health programs. Prior to her PhD studies, she worked for many years as psychometrist and researcher and is also a registered psychotherapist with the CRPO. She has experience in a variety of community, education, private practice, and health care settings, including nearly a decade living in the Middle East.

Her distinctions include the Ontario Psychological Association’s Early Career Psychologist award (2022), a Doctoral Ontario Graduate Scholarship (2021) and a Masters award from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (2006). Her research has focused on the impact of important relationships and critical illness on career development.
