Dr. Maharaj completed her Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology, with a specialization in working with children and adolescents at the Florida School of Professional Psychology in Tampa, Florida. Throughout her clinical training, she worked with diverse populations, clinical issues and individuals of all ages in a variety of settings including: school, hospital inpatient, private practice, college counselling and community mental health placements. Dr. Maharaj has completed an APA accredited pre-doctoral internship at MercyFirst, a residential treatment centre for adolescents in Long Island, New York, where she provided evidenced based treatment and completed psychological evaluations. She has also gained extensive clinical experience providing evidence supported interventions and psychological assessments for individuals of all ages at a reputable Employee Assistance Provider firm in Trinidad and Tobago including presenting problems such as: work-stress related concerns, family conflict, interpersonal relationship challenges, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, mood disorders, adjustment disorders, conduct problems and personality disorders. Her clinical interests include cyberpsychology and video gaming addictions.
Dr. Maharaj offers therapy to children, adolescents and adults using evidence based cognitive behavioural therapies. She uses a genuine and collaborative approach while establishing trust to create a foundation of hope and strength.
